Ulfhednar Movie Screening

Blue Cypress Books hosts a screening of the animated short Úlfhéðnar with local filmmaker Scott Nielsen on November 25th at 6:30pm.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Mr. Nielsen.

This event is free and open to the public and will take place at the bookstore, located at 8123 Oak Street, New Orleans, LA 70118.

Úlfhéðnar: In this animated short inspired by Norse fairy tales, Freki, a villager from a small settlement is attacked while hunting. New perspectives clash with old traditions as his clan reacts to the changes caused by the attack. Following his too-quick recovery Freki attempts to return to life as normal while struggling with dreams that reveal his true nature. Can he control what he is now destined to become?

Úlfhéðnar has been an official selection at over a dozen film festivals including, South African HorrorFest, International SciFi & Fantasy Film Festival, and ScreamFest Horror Film Fest – New Orleans. It was also voted Best Short of the Month at IndieX Film Fest.

Scott Nielsen has been working in entertainment for over 20 years. Starting in regional theater he held many positions including Master Electrician, Technical Director, Musical Director, and Sound Designer. Later working as a Video Editor and Director of Photography, in local news and regional television. In 2020, Scott founded HooDooPhonix Productions, a virtual production company, working to further democratize VFX for filmmaking.

Currently he is working on Spoopy Movie Time which is available on Tubi, and Amazon Prime, and most recently completed his first fully MOCAP’ed film short ULFHEDNAR, his first submission to the festival circuit.
