Rowe’s poems dance with “bedraggled things,” “tubercular face[s],” “dream scab[s],” and “skeletons that sing in the fire.” The poet converses with their gods, their devils, and their dog. It is an exciting ride in which the images surprise the reader like lost ghosts and the word/sound play invigorates the mind and mouth. Rowe’s willingness to bellow and lay bare makes for an ecstatic read that leaves one pining for the next edition. Lucky Bean Press is grateful for the opportunity to tether these poems to paper in collaboration with Nola DNA and Verna Press.
Caroline Rowe is a native of New Orleans. Her work has appeared in Califragile, Seems, Adanna, and in the anthology, Maple Leaf Rag (Portals Press).
