An Evening w/ Martha McFerren & Gina Ferrara

Join us Thursday, November 18th at 6 pm for an evening with local poets, Martha McFerren & Gina Ferrara. Both poets will read selections from their published collections and discuss their work. A book signing will follow.

Martha McFerren received an MFA from Warren Wilson College and is the author of five books, including Women in Cars, for which she received the Marianne Moore Prize, and Archaeology at Midnight. Her poems have appeared in Georgia Review, Shenandoah, Southern Review, and many other journals and anthologies. She is the recipient of an Artist Fellowship in Literature by the Louisiana Arts Council, a Yaddo Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship. She lives in New Orleans with her husband, woodturner Dennis Wall.
Gina Ferrara lives in New Orleans. Her poetry collections include: The Size of Sparrows (Finishing Line Press 2006) Ethereal Avalanche (Trembling Pillow Press 2009) Amber Porch Light (CW Books 2013), Carville: Amid Moss and Resurrection Fern (FLP 2014) and Fitting the Sixth Finger: Poems Inspired by the Paintings of Marc Chagall published by Aldrich Press in 2017. Weight of the Ripened is her most recent collection from Dos Madres Press. Her work has appeared in Callaloo, The Tar River Review, The Poetry Ireland Review and others. She is an Elizabeth George Foundation grant recipient, and she curates The Poetry Buffet, a monthly reading series held at The Latter Branch of the New Orleans Public Library currently being held virtually. She teaches English and writing at Delgado Community College where she’s an associate professor.
